1001

It's amazing to me how if I haven't worked for a couple of months I seriously think " Oh, dear , I don't think I remember how to make a frog'.  Bear in mind I've made more that a thousand of them over the years. Of course , three seconds into it , it comes right back. Just like riding a bicycle ! Which leads me to my next post.

Big, Bigger, BIGGEST

I think it's funny how the first clay frog sculpture looks thoughful and kind , the second one looks resolute and determined and the third one looks downright mean. Or am I imagining the whole thing?

Frog

O.K , in nature frogs aren't propped up by sponges, but this is a ceramic frog and at this point in the process he would fall on his face if he wasn't being propped up or at least wilt a little. Gravity wants to pull him downward. Once he dries, and is fired of course he won't have any problem sitting up. And he'll look like this.

Frog Drying.....

... .. might seem really precarious due to the breakability of the pieces.  But desperate times call for desperate measures and by desperate times I mean I'm behind in my orders so I have to make up the time however I can.  That means fast drying in the sun or in winter fast drying under my woodstove.  So, until these guys go into the kiln , they get a relaxing mini-vacation on my porch !
