Here in town nearly the only thing I could find to sculpt from life is a Stink Bug or lots of stinkbugs. Back in the mountains, I would see South-Eastern 5 Lined Skinks, also known as a Blue-tailed Skink, all the time. By the way, this one is in a older stage where his ( or her) tail isn't blue. They hung out on the back porch , big ones and adorable little babies that were just a few inches. They are one of the first things I began making because literally there they were, right outside my door. Sometimes inside my door. Sometimes in my coffee mug. Yes, seriously. Now I use guide books , the internet , magazines. whatever I can do to make sure everything I do is up to date. and as right as I can make it. I haven't asked around but ....I'm pretty sure Stink Bugs aren't going to be in big demand this Christmas season. Or any season really.
